Diamond

The most expensive stone in the world is diamonds. That pretty jewelry which we wear in our fingers or hands or nick, where it come from? I will explain the laces that come from and how come into being
Most diamond processing centers includes Antwerp; New York, Tel Aviv and India where these stones accumulated, cut and sold. The largest diamonds mining company in the world is De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd. The mine of most diamonds in South Africa. They dominate about two thirds of the world’s rough diamonds trade. The company conserved the price of diamonds high by confining the value of diamonds available in the market.
Second major city for trading diamonds is Antwerp, Belgium. Jewish community is associated with diamonds trade. About 1500 cutters and polishers left in Antwerp after merchants outsourced of the cutting and polishing to India. About 80% of the world’s rough diamonds pass through the city of Antwerp.90% of the world’s rough diamonds are cut and polished in India. Rough diamonds come from Antwerp and Israel. Indian workers get paid of 40 Cents for each cut and polished gem. Dubai has growing reputation as a diamond’s center for decay. The government always encourages demand traders by providing them facilities like 50 years zero tax holidays. The jeweler’s income business is worth around 1 billion.
All in all, diamonds are the most expensive stone in the world and there is a few of people who know how to cut or polish. I think that we have to encourage this career by giving high salary for those people.

Global warming problems and solutions
Global warming defines as an increase in the earth’s temperature. It occurs when green house gases trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere, this will increase the temperature. The change in temperature will badly affect many people, animals and plants. Many can’t live with that, so they will die. In this essay am going to highlight some problems associated with global warming then I will look at some solutions that can stop or reduce the earth’s temperature increase. Last, I will provide my opinion for this disaster and our requirements to global warming.

Global warming is affecting many parts in the worlds. For the starter, one notable concern is with regard to the spread of disease. For example, As northern countries warm, disease carrying insects migrate north, bringing plague and disease with them. Indeed some scientists believe that in some countries thanks to global warming, malaria has not been fully eradicated (5 Deadliest Effects of Global Warming). Second effect is with the respect to the warmer water and more hurricanes. To illustrate, as a result of increasing in ocean’s temperature more and stronger hurricanes will get (2004 and 2005). Third and main problem to be considered is with respect to polar ice caps melting. To clarify, if there is flooding, people’s homes are at risk. According to Environmental Defense, scientists estimate that 13 million to 88 million homes will be flooded around the world by 2080. (Know Your World Extra 6).
Having looked at some effects, let’s turn our attention to adjust solutions like how can we minimize the raising of earth’s temperature. First point is with the respect to drive a fuel-efficient car. To illustrate, A car that gets 30 mpg will emit about half of the CO2 of a 15 vehicle. That’s a saving of 8,000 pounds if you drive 12,000 miles a year. (Global Warming Solutions).
An additional solution is to take into consideration is power consumption. For example, turning off light when you leave and turning off TV’s and computers when not in use. That’s will save money and reduces the greenhouse gases.
Last point to be considered is with respect to recycling. To clarify, used items like papers, bottles and cans should be recycled instead of making new ones. This will save money and reduce greenhouse gasses sent into the air.
In conclusion, global warming is most critical subject in the world, so we have to cooperate together to overcome to this impendence. In my opinion giving feedback to our kids and teenagers will a part and an important part of our responsibility due to climate cries, nowadays we trying our best to solve this disaster but tomorrow we might not be here.

English 174: Summarization Task 4
An Inconvenient Truth argument
The aim of viewing movies is to attract all kind of attention from an audience. Al Gore presents himself to explain the effects of global warming. Some of his reviews are positive and other is negative. In the following am going to write both negative and positive in An Inconvenient Truth warming.
Some of the audiences are against Al Gore because there were some points noted in his reviews. First point is the movie doesn’t seem to be about Global Warming but to be treated as a saint. To illustrate Al Gore talks about himself and his life more than his subject. Furthermore, point is Gore having fun about Bush and other Republicans. For instance, the reviewers believe that AL Gore’s speech was prepared with some jokes and sarcastic remarks against Bush administration and Republicans. Another point to consider is that AL Gore too very long stage to speak about Global Warming. According to Scott, the film doesn’t appear to be about Global Warming but it is regarding Al Gore’s life ( Scott 1).
Having looked at some negative points let’s turn our attention to some positive points. The first point wasn’t clear to use his documentary for any political purpose. To illustrates, he was cleaver and didn’t revolve this political transmit. Another point to be consider Al Gore’s achieved his movie goals, also he presenting the movie in a very attractive and had a lot of background. For instance, he attracts audience by presenting his film in an interesting way by adding some jokes and clips. Helen reviews, stated that Al Gore’s charts, statistic and scientists studies showed that Global Warming is not new fact (O’Hara 2). To clarify; they support their opinion by some great climate researchers who says that Al Gore got the right facts.

In conclusion it has been noticed and published “An Inconvenient Truth “has big impact to all people around the world ignoring Al Gore’s negative points. Because our world is most important to us and to our generation.

Task 6: One planet living & Cool Cities
Modern cities are expansion in a Composition way for example here in UAE’s cities. This improvement has both advantages and disadvantages.
Nowadays, cities consume a lot of energy that produces high amount of CO2 and heat. So the developers find out new technique to reduce the heat and CO2 by building Cool Cities. These cities can make the level of the heat and CO2 to zero. In this essay am going to search for modern cities’ role with the respect to climate changes, also I look at how modern cities can reduce their consumption of energy for minimizing their carbon emission. Last, I will raise my opinion for the practicality of environmentally friendly cities.
First, I’m going to find how modern cities contribute to global warming.
For starters, one notable concern is with regard to the buildings. For example, buildings in the UAE don’t have spaces so they don’t provide any shade as well as poor materials used in construction (Younes 2). Second reason to be considered is with the respect to the transportation. To illustrate, the sudden growth of UAE’s population led us to have big numbers of cars, motorbikes and buses to be used. This will increase the energy consumption and also CO2 exhausted into the air.
Having looked at some contribution, let’s turn our attention to adjusted solutions like how can they minimize the energy’s level and carbon emissions. The main point is climate control. To clarify,
Mr. Hope stated that sorouh plans to circulate seawater underground to cool the pavement and benches and the exterior of buildings (Hope 2). Mr. Younes stated that using creative architecture will cut the energy consumption by 50-70 % (Younes 3). Also, they will create abundance of trees and water to prevent the heat island effects, filtered light rooftops which can reduce the impact of sun heat and utilizes natural energy such as wind energy (Cool cities).
An additional point to take into consideration is in terms minimizing CO2 that exhausted by transportation. For instant, modern technology of public transportation will be used in the cool cities this will lead people to use them. Also; they will give new ways of people transporting from zone to zone in the city. Cool city will minimize the amount of gasses exhausted into the air because there will be no cars. Cool city will use Monorail, Hybridcar, Light rail transit and solar ship for water transportation (Cool cities).
In conclusion, cool cities are a genius idea to minimize the carbon emission in the world. But I think this project will not succeed in Middle East because there are a lot of difficulties and many challenges like the sources Middle East. UAE depends on oil production, so it will not be easy to find other resources.

Task 5
There are various ways to measure our impact on the earth from an environmental stand print. One the following report, I will define what is a carbon foot print is, show how carbon footprint is measured in my country and the world, show how (rank in a comparisons to others finally I will make some suggestion as to how we can reduce our carbon footprint.
Let’s now look at how best to define. A carbon footprint is measurement of our effect human on the environment in terms of how we influence global warming. To clarify,” The total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).Your carbon footprint is the sum of all emissions of CO2 (carbon dioxide), which were induced by your activities in a given time frame. Usually a carbon footprint is calculated for the time period of a year.”(What-is-a-carbon-footprint-definition 2).

It is calculated by looking at all the different ways which you use energy from means of transport to food consumption, to home appliances etc. to clarify “Carbon footprint calculation generally include energy used to power our home and transport, as well the consumption we use on regular (and irregular) basis, mang of the (individual carbon foot print for your home, travel, food etc.)” (Dunn3)
Turn our attention to how my carbon footprint ranking compares vis-à-vis my classmates. I registered the highest among a total of 4.57. My classmate Abdulla Salem recorded a reading of 2.725 Make him the second highest, Sultan coming in third place with a reading of 2.205. Finally with score of 1.475 is Jassim. My country doesn’t take this case serious which has a bad reputation. Mohammad al Jawdar, the director of strategy management at the EAD, said Abu Dhabi was unable to provide accurate statistics on environmental matters at present and this was one of the reasons for the country’s poor international reputation.”(Todorova 1)

Last, I will come out of some ways to minimize co2 footprint. First point to take into consideration is aware to save energy. For instant, switch off water heater don’t leave all the day to be because it will take just 20 minutes to heat the water. Second point to conceder is cool to be little warmer. For example when you adjust your AC to the temperature you need then turn it back up just 2-3 degrees. It will not make any difference on your room temperature but it will make big difference on your consumptions. Don’t forget to switch it off before leaving your home. Third point to be aware is to be bright save your money. For instant using energy saving light bulbs it’s more efficient and last 10 times longer than the traditional one.

In brief, this report helped me to primarily become more aware of my impact on the environment and take into consideration ways that I can also benefit the environment by becoming a responsible.
